The alleys of Fes, Morocco -
The oldest continually inhabited city in a troubled world: a myriad of 10,000 alleys; the smells of ancient walls and ancient wares.
I'm gently pushed aside, trays of fruit and vegetables choking an impossibly narrow path. A fully laden donkey the primary transport here.
The animal knows the way it seems, with another bulging bag of onions. He melts among the crowd, the echo of hooves immersed in a dozen conversations. How many times has he come this way?
I gaze down at the trays of fruit and vegetables, a pallet worthy of Monet or Renoir.
