A wandering bird's-eye overview of most things even vaguely related to travel, and an opportunity for writers, artists and photographers to contribute the historical, the hysterical, the quirky and quixotic... anything with heart.

USA 1970 `The Letter' by Joe Cocker -

Written by Nashville's Wayne Thompson, he thought the production poor of this 1967 Boxtops' classic. He also considered the then 16 year old Alex Chiltern's singing too husky and the jet engine sound at the beginning rediculous.

No jet sound on this version from the US Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour, but maybe the voice is a just a tad more`husky' than Chiltern's.

Loved Joe Cocker! His version of “The Letter” was pretty awesome.

Apparently at the end of a previous exhausting tour; so quite a performance.
      Thanks
